A considerable number of Law Schools have been opened in Turkey for the last few years. More than half of them are active under foundation universities. Foundation of these schools is accompanied by a positive competition in the field of legal education. With the pressure from the newly-founded Schools of La and the worries to be left behind, older and more rooted Schools of Law under state universities tend to participate in this competition. Undoubtedly, these efforts help to improve the quality of legal education in Turkey. The efforts to increase legal education above a certain level are worthy of respect. As one of the final participants of this positive competition, İstanbul Şehir University School of Law aims to present the legal education with a different content and method. Our fundamental aim is to present the teaching method with content far beyond the classical understanding. Within this framework, we think that it is most crucial to present the course books of law to the students in a form which will enable easy learning of fundamental information with a method used in Anglo-American Schools of Law and supported by cases which include the practical applications. Furthermore, ensuring that the students meet leading legal institutions and institutions assisting the Law in Turkey and abroad in every stage of four-year undergraduate study are among our top priority aims so that students get to know the profession and the practice. Our school embodies every component required for a legal education supported by all technical and logistic infrastructure needed for a legal education designed in accordance with the developing technological and economic structure of the century. Şehir University School of Law, with its highly qualified academic staff, has done the preliminary work required in this issue and considers it as its indispensible aim to reach the aims specified with concrete efforts. Law and legal education has been a field that has been highly esteemed since the very ancient times. Apart from the esteem granted to those who have this education in the society, the indispensible role of profession of law in society to establish the idea and opinion of right and justice puts the profession of Law and professionals in Law at a respectable position. This esteem felt towards the profession of Law has reached the highest level in recent years. Raising highly qualified professionals of law in Turkey has gained more and more importance than ever in the face of these developments. İstanbul Şehir University School of Law which was founded in this vein in 2010 prepared a program which can ensure to raise highly qualified professionals of law required in the field of law by public and private sector and fiscal and financial markets in practice along with its structure based on theory which highlights the methodology of law, which will contribute to the settlement of idea and ideal of law, that presents right answers to “What kind of a legal education?” by thorough interviews made with experienced names authorized in judicial and administrative bureaucratic positions, Presidents of Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation which are the supreme judicial bodies, academicians of law who are prominent in their field. ŞEHİR School of Law which sets forth with the concern of forming a different curriculum and producing an alternate model to the problems of Turkish Legal System and legal education in general and the existing one in the existing Schools of Law.
